For those of you that bought a new JK, interested to know if your mind was made up in terms of exterior color BEFORE you went into the dealer.....and, just as importantly, did you walk out with the same color or did something change your mind?
Truth be told, I was pretty sure I was going to end up in a black JKUS with a matching black top, but after 3 dealers and a lot of weekend drive-bys, I became less sure of what color I wanted. And for the record, I support anyone's decision to get any color, variety is the spice of life. There are two colors that interestingly enough, got me to pull into the first Jeep dealer I passed to seriously look. Cosmos Blue and White. Completely out of character for me to entertain either one if you look at my past 4 vehicle color choices: black, silver, charcoal and black. Lol. I'm not sure why, but seeing both the blue and white with matching hard tops made me want to look closer at the '12 JKUs
While there were colors i never got to see in person on a JK (BFG, Gecko, Dozer) I had narrowed my choices down to black, cherry red, flame red and white in a period of a few weeks. White was eliminated after seeing it from a distance with matching colored top and fender because my wife commented that it looked like a Mail Truck. I actually like it. Milled it around a bit and eventually moved on. I had seen a higher amount of black on the roads here in the northeast than any other color. Black was actually my early selection based on getting a Sport with a black hard top and not the painted top. Over time I felt that black was very common, yet I still really like how it looks. Ultimately it came down to two identically equipped JKUSs in cherry red and flame red. My decision to get flame was based solely on never having seen one previously around my area in matching top and fenders.
So interested to hear how you all landed on the color you're now driving!
