The computer only needs to be from the same model year as your TJ, have the same engine, and the same transmission type. The only caution is that SOME computers are programmed for the SKIM key security system which would mean your TJ has to have the SKIM system too which would then require the computer be reprogrammed to match your SKIM system.
If your TJ does not have SKIM, make sure the computer you are buying did not come from a TJ that had the SKIM system or your engine won't start.
