I posted this on the CJ forum too but I think they'll fit both CJ and YJ

trying to consider all options for tunes in the Heep. so far i know that i cannot put a stereo in the dash without removing the defrost duct. I have no console so the research that I have done here and other sites says that Tuffy is a good security console. But I came across the Max-Bilt Command Center Console at Max-Bilt Jeeps. Do you know anything about that? I seems to be the better option w/ all the electrical supplied for aux power, lights, fuses etc. Any thoughts? I know I will likely buy the Sony head 4 x 52 with MP3 or Ipod pin jack input so I can get rid of the skipping cd's once and for all

that is a really cool console. i'm gonna get one. i put a tuffy in my old jeep, it was great, but that is much better. it looks like they ripped off the tuffy and just added some stuff.

but how much is that one?

$399 according to the website, pretty pricey for a console

At first i thought $400 was steep too but if the MB has the same security level as the Tuffy at $300, I really think the other electrical stuff like lights, extra power and switches were nice features. I was already planning to make a "switch bar" to place in the radio cutout with (2) HD switches which are $20 bucks each and replace the rusted cig lighter mounted on the dash lip for $10 bucks I guess that means I'm paying $50 for front/back interior lights. I have no interior lighting at all, short of the brighter LED's i replace the standard incandescent with. More research.........

I have to say for an extra $100 I would pass. The tuffy is one tough console. My other thought is the tuffy is already a tight fit and not much storage. The sleeve that the stereo/cd player slides into is an extremely tight fit. In order to have clearance for the back end of the accessory outlet etc, you,re either going to have to give up storage space or the entire unit is going to get too long and interfere with shifting etc. The tuffy sits flush to the back of by seats and extends quite far out with the two cup holders.

my 2 cents.....

Thanks for the feedback! Good to know about the storage which is all important too. Is there any wiring that comes with the Tuffy? Whitey, are you referring to the front cup holders or did you get the rear ones too? Are you manual or auto trans?

no wiring with the tuffy i had. you just run stereo wires from dash under carpet into console. i put my cb where the stereo was, looked like it came from there from the factory if you get the right size cb.
