Trying not to leave theft-prone d-rings attached to my bumper, and I also don't want to deal with the clanking noise. So I plan on using an isolator. I have the Daystar roller fairlead isolator on a steel rope setup and it works great. I have another winch with a Hawse fairlead (synthetic rope). Daystar makes an isolator for Hawse fairleads, but it doesn't have a nice cutout for the winch hook. I think I am going to just use the roller isolator, even thought it doesn't cover the entire fairlead but it does certainly protect it.

Has anyone used the roller fairlead isolator on a Hawse fairlead?

I don't notice any clanking at all, however I did notice rust where the finish on my bumper was wearing off inside the mounts . I took them off the other day and they're staying off until I need them

Didn't think about them wearing off the finish and starting a rust point. Good catch.

No clanking of mine either.
