You need one in a manual for your clutch foot to rest on. It’s more of a platform on the floor, but you can add a thin pedal like this

Thanks for the post. Does it take up much space...does it get in the way when not in use? I dont like brakes that hang down and get in the way.
I guess for the price you cant go wrong.

Had one for both driver as well as the passenger for two years and have yet to experience it as being in the way.
In addition to being a foot rest when driving, the pedal provides a way for me to push back in the seat or for leverage when I want to turn around and get something from the back.
My wife likes having one on the passenger side as it gives her an additional point of contact to help keep her in the seat when off road.

One of my first installs. I drove a Tahoe rental one time that did not have one and it drove me crazy. When I got the Wrangler, I had the same feeling, so quickly found it and ordered it. Makes my hour commute much more enjoyable as I then have multiple foot positions to rest.

For those asking. It is does not get in the way at all. I have an Automatic, so no clutch to deal with, but I would think if it was a manual I would want it even more. Plenty of space to add and a simply luxury to rest the left foot.

My first mod on all my JKs.
Makes a big difference, especially when off road.

There is literally no room with a manual to put that in there. The thing I have noticed with the Jeep that is different from cars is the seat is much higher in relation to the clutch so it’s much more comfortable just to put the foot flat down on the floor. The dead pedal, although possibly nice to have, is not really necessary.

Only takes up dead space and is the perfect fit , Left foot rests on it like it's been there from the factory. 5 minute install and worth every cent !

Yep , My 17 Canyon does not have one and im always reaching for it, Drives me nuts on long rides. Searching for one now !

I got one of those form amazon. I was parked one day reaching in my left pocket for something while straightening my leg out. The thing bent. It's still in there but I was surprised how easily it bent.

This is the one I bought two years ago. Definitely better to have some place to rest your foot. Bought the M.O.R.E. version so it wouldn't bend if I put some pressure on it. Surprised to see how much it costs now. I only paid $25.

Before I put one in my left foot was always in an uncomfortable/awkward position -- either fully extended or at a 90°-ish degree angle. The dead pedal isn't life-changing but it made that left leg more comfortable.

Given how far I regularly drive, the dead pedal was perfect. I tried without for some time, the difference is huge.
Nearly every manufacturer provides some sort of left foot support from the factory for auto trans equipped vehicles. Not Jeep.
