Hi i have been having an issue with a leak and a weird noise coming under acceleration along with what i thought was an alignment issue on my jeep since i purchased it about a month ago. I called the dealership where i bought it and they said jeeps leak and are hard to get to align. Well i finally got fed up and took it to my local dealership since i have the warranty and i only have 2,600 miles on my jeep. The guy called me and asked when i jumped my jeep or got into an accident. I haven not done either i explained. I drive to work only except for one trip to vegas. He said the only way you bend the axle housing is by hitting something hard or jumping it. I told him that i had been asking the dealership i bought it from which is a lost 200 miles away and they said those were normal jeep problems based on the noise and leak. The dealership that its at is saying that Chrysler will likely to cover the bent housing. This is my first jeep and i haven't had a chance to go off roading yet. The dealership i bought it at already caused a bunch of issues when they didn't send my payoff for my trade in until 25 days later and now im fighting an issue with them and my credit because i was dinged for a no payment. Does anyone else have experience with jeep having bent housing so soon or what else might cause it? I have been doing some research but do not have a lot of knowledge about jeep drivetrains. How many miles were on it when you bought it?

Those axles don't just bend themselves. Though, a defective housing could be the culprit. highly unlikely though.

Let Jeep deal with it. If they said they'd cover it, let them.

Did you buy it from a franchised new car dealer or an independent used car lot? I would be looking into possible major accident. The payoff problem kinda raises a red flag to me also.

Let Jeep deal with it. If they said they'd cover it, let them.
I agree, they don't bend themselves, but did it have any miles when you bought it? Maybe the dealer you bought it from jumped the jeep, or swapped the axle assembly for another customer (or a shop dude)

Sorry, just realized it sounds like a new Jeep. Still pretty odd with the payoff problem and them telling you it is normal if it was a brand new Jeep you bought from them.

I bought it with about 70 miles on it brand new it has a little over 2,600 now. The dealership where purchased it has been a big pain first they gave me a signed 10 day payoff guarantee on my trade in then sent in the payoff 23 days later. Also when i called to ask them about the noise and the leak they said thats what jeeps do. its leaking from the front right near where the axle connects to the wheel. i couldn't tell exactly where. Im wondering if they had done some "excessive test drives" with it. Im waiting to hear from my local dealership tomorrow to see if jeep will cover it but the service guy said it looks like it was jumped or had some serious off roading done to it so its unlikely jeep will cover it. Im seriously stuck if they wont because its gonna be a 3-5k repair depending if i stay stock or upgrade.

What is the signs of serious off roading or jumping on a jeep that never left the road

Make him show you why he is saying that and take pictures so we can see it , a rock flying up and hitting your skids is not off roading or driving down a rock drive way is not off roading but they will leave marks

Ya thats what i think he is talking about. He said that the only way the axle housing bends is if its jumped or done serious off roading. I don't know much about jeeps yet but i do know where I've driven it an what its done while I've owned it.

Red flag buying a "new" Wrangler with 70 miles on it, sounds like someone drove it like they stole it...call the 800 number in your booklet (glove box) and report what happened.

Eh thats not really true. I bought my wrangler with 79 on it and it was fine until i messed with it lol

Well the dealership said Chrysler isn't going to cover any of it. I have been trying to talk to the dealership where bought it and they said there is no proof it was their fault so its my problem not theirs. I feel like i got completely screwed from the get go with this. I am trying to decide that since I'm gong to end up paying for this all out of pocket is there any recommendation other than replacing with factory stock parts. I don't plan on rock crawling maybe just trails and streams type of stuff. My lift budget will now go to replacing the front end.

I've seen vehicles messed up being taken off the truck, and if no one is there watching they get put into inventory and come back later on with problems. It could have been jumped off the car carrier too. Funny how quickly they look to blame the customer. Just saying that's all.

Ya i have been looking forward to owning my first Jeep and i feel like because of a dealership not Jeep that my experience has been tainted. I planned on upgrading my Jeep bit by bit but this is now a requirement as it is unsafe to drive with how it is. My first job was a s a lot porter for a dealership and they always did what was right. The owner was a good man. I think those qualities are long gone theses days with very few exceptions when it comes to integrity from dealerships.

That really is a bad deal you have. Biggest problem is put 2500 miles on it before taking it in, and they are taking advantage of that for the most part. Understandable on chryslers end though. The original dealer is really the bad guy here by telling you that is all normal from the get go. Cheapest route may be find a take off that is geared the same and bolt it in. Aftermarket upgrade is going to be expensive.

I saw things done that would make you sick. I worked in a few high volume dealerships and their only care was getting vehicles on the road. The customer came last.

I officially am never going to a Chrysler dealership again. After finally picking up my jeep today since I'm waiting to hear about the coverage still. I leave the dealership get on the freeway and my hood flies open. The idiots didn't close or latch my hood almost crashed the jeep.

Holy crap, bad all around. Should have driven into a guard rail though. Then they could have replaced your axle after all.
