Dealer Support + Mopar Help!

Looking for some advice.

Bought a Certified 2016 JKU Wrangler in May, since then I have taken it to the dealer for service several times for an awful clunking noise (linking the noise here - https://www.reddit.com/r/Wrangler/comments/c95hyr/help_tracking_down_clunking_noise_see_comments/).

First time - Dealer said they could not duplicate the problem. Annoyed, I said "OK," and brought it back in again one month later.

Second time - Dealer heard the noise (a lot) on a ride along with the service advisor, and they checked the diff and said everything looked great. They retorqued all suspension components and that seemed to help... for about 20 minutes. The noise came right back. On the repair order it literally says "[after repair] test drove heard once or twice...]"

Third time - Jeep is still making the noise, as they acknowledged before. Now, they say they cannot hear it but have done no additional work since last time. At this point, the limited certified warranty is expired, but I still have powertrain. I asked them to consult the engineers at Mopar, which they happily did. After being in the shop for 2 weeks, still no definitive answer.

I am convinced it is a suspension or body issue, thus not covered by the powertrain warranty. Now outside of my warranty, I am going to have to pay to fix the issue that nobody can track down. I'm not blaming the dealer, but just frustrated that I bought a certified Jeep, that nobody can seem to fix despite agreeing that it has a problem.

@JeepCares might be able to help..

Watched the video... you say sound is from the rear.. is the jack secure in the rear cargo area? Most likely not the issue. but worth checking..
first: Welcome to the forum!
second: Since you are out of warranty and will likely need to pay for to fix the issue anyway, why not try a different dealer?

depending on the dealer and warranty coverage, if the issue was brought in while warranty was in effect it will be treated as warranty in effect for the same issue (can't say this is true for all dealers/shops) but I have had vehicles where I have had warranty work done and even when the warranty was over and past the issue was treated as "in warranty" as I had originally started the repair of the issue while UNDER warranty, I would check to see if the dealer has such a policy and if so keep taking the issue to them, if not or if they start giving a hard time then it will be time to get @JeepCares involved for giving a good kick in the rear end....
give more details on your jeep is it lifted etc. is it only happening when turning. hard to tell anything from video as too short. take a gopro or similar and put it underneath your rig pointing it at various areas ie shocks, control arm mounts, exhaust etc

Hi connornorton14,

Sorry to hear of the frustration that has been associated with your situation. If it would be of interest, I would be happy to get a case escalated on your behalf for an additional layer of assistance while your Wrangler is in service. Please follow up with me via PM to proceed in this manner.

Check jack. Then have someone from the outside listen while you turn etc. Hard to trace a noise from inside for sure. It sounds like a binding noise either suspension or rear axle.
