I think I have DW, but my mechanic insists I have a problem with my u-joints or drivetrain. I did recently have to replace my rear gears after about 10 years or more of being at an extreme angle, he insists that that is the problem. I've got a 4" Pro-Comp suspension lift and initially had the spacers that came with the kit, but then put in the Skyjacker spacer bars to drop the transfer case a bit more. He says the rear diff is heating up too much and that he believes that is the only cause. The wobble didn't really appear until after she was in an accident and got fixed, he says that the steering stabilizers and all are good and they could not be the cause. I've had the alignment done and tightened but it mysteriously loosened up after about a week, had it redone, same thing. It minimizes when I put in 4H but is still there. Anyone got any ideas. I haven't been offroading in a long time and need new tires, but they tell me the tires aren't the problem either. I did notice some wear on the track bar away from the axle end, cause by the shop putting part of the front end together wrong, I fixed that, and the wobble became more noticeable once this was done. It's not that the tires move as much as the the body shakes, since I'm in it driving I can't tell if I'm getting tire bounce. Thanks in advance.

Well It dont sound like dw cause if it was you would be changing your underpants often it would get expensive.But I would get someone to jump in the jeep and let them turn the steering wheel while you jump under and make sure you dont have any movement in any of the steering parts really keep a eye on the tracbar,the slightest movement in somthing can make a diffrence

We figured it out. It did start as a mild wobble at 45 or so, kinda bouncing me all over the lane, so I figured tire balance blah blah blah, but it all checked out. Then when we tinkered around we discovered the initial bouncing and jerking was the u-joints polite way of saying 'I'm about to go out' Right about the time we pulled of the rear driveshaft nice needle bearings everywhere. This was done because it began to bounce on acceleration, hence the mechanic wisely saying 'U-joints U dumb Sh1t!'

Even before readin the above, I was going to say your mechanic was right. DW is a symptom, not a cause.
