i am running a set of 35" super swamper radials and have the ol infamous death wobble at about 40mph. from 40 on to about 60 it steadys out and the ride is good enough to put up with but i have to constantly watch the speed.
my question is, can anyone tell me if they are running a moderately aggressive mud tread and still get a decent ride on the pavement. i know for sure that my 35's are worn and im pretty sure that is the main factor causing the shake because it has gotten worse as the tires wear even though they do still have a good bit of tread on em. i took the jeep to a 4x4 tire shop and they didnt even recommend balancing them because of the big amount of weights they would need on the outside of the rim and they said that still may not totally get rid of the wobble. since i dont go offroading much, i am going to buy some all terrain tires but i wanted to stick with the present size that i have now which is 35x 14.50 and they dont make an all terrain tread in that width. i am ok with going with a set of 35x12.50 all terrain tires instead of mud grips but would rather stay with the exact size that i have now. i was mainly wondering if anyone can say that they are able to run a large mud tire with no balancing issue.
