Decisions- buying new

If you have a garage with high enough of a ceiling, you can buy a lift and let it hang up in the Ceiling.

mine came with a hardtop but i got a premium softtop and sold the hardtop but it's much different here...little to no snow. if your jeep is parked outside with wet snow, i wouldn't want a softtop ...

hardtop storage varies whether you have a tall enough garage/carport with a hoist or a storage room. I don't have any so I decided to sell it and pocket the change...

When we did have snow with the hardtop, it kept having condensation inside almost to a point where the rear windows(besides front windows) were all fogged up regardless of how much AC was run....i could not get rid of moisture.

Do you live alone or can someone help you with your hardtop when you take it off/put it on? its not a 1 person task...

The hard top isn't my main concern. A nearby dealer has one that has just about everything on it that I want but it has the half doors. I love the look but will I be cursing them from November through March?

I have a hoist mounted to the ceiling in my garage. I back into the garage and lift the top with the hoist and it just hangs there until I lower it back onto the Jeep, which is usually several days later.

One issue that no one has mentioned yet is that you can't get half doors with a hard top. So if you wanted to run half doors you'd have to buy a seperate set of half doors for the summer, which would be hard to find...unfortunately you can't get a "dual doors" option like you can choose the dual top.

Personally, I was adamant about having half doors. My last jeep (TJ) had them. Very hard to find on dealer lots, at least not with the other options I wanted, so I had to order. Of course, we have pretty mild winters here and never any snow, so running a soft top year round is not much of a concern.

If hanging it from the ceiling is not an option you can always build or buy a cart. Just google Jeep Wrangler hardtop cart and you will find the specs for it.

Just a thought but with half doors you don't have windows that role down do you? Sorry, not familiar with half doors, had full soft doors on my CJ5 and they were a pain. They're a pain at drive thru's and other times like that, or just cruising down the road on a nice day. I'd go with the full doors and soft top, but that's just my 2 cents.

I lived in that area for a year. Winters are bad. Would not want to run the half doors. Full doors with dual top would be better. Hard top for the winter and then soft top for the short summers. Half doors have vinyl windows which would suck during the winter.

You can always buy a dual top Jeep, and save up to get yourself some Mopar half doors. They will run you about $3500-4000 painted so it's a pretty expensive mod.

I had half doors on my 2014 Willys and loved them, but I live in a mild climate. If I lived where there was tons of snow, I wouldn't get half doors. Terrific during summer though.

Correct, the windows do not roll down on half doors, they are zippered plastic windows. They are a little bit of a pain at drive throughs and stuff, but as far as cruising down the road on a nice day (or pulling up at a drive through on a nice day, for that matter), it's not a problem because they're stashed behind the back seat.

While it possibly would take less time if I had help, I can take off and put on my hard top by myself. 4 eye bolts and ratchet straps does the trick. As soon as we are done with the snow here in spring time (wet snow as I type this) I will be doing the switch again!

Well with a hoist its easy! lol. manually, not so much
