When I was originally test driving my 93 YJ, the previous owner decided to show off and jump a small dirt mound in his front yard and in doing so he shoved the front drive shaft into the transfer case and split the front half of the case. So he bought and swapped out the front half of the case but the shift detent that holds the 4x4 shifter in the desired position did not come with the new case and to make it worse, the old detent did not fit the new case. So he ended up throwing a plug in it that had the correct thread pitch to hold the t-case fluid in but now I have to bungy cord my shifter in place. I tried calling the dealer and they said there is only one detent for the NP231... so finding this part is turning into a pain in my ass. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, where did you get the part? or how did you solve the issue?

Never heard of that, but after seeing it, I wouldn't have boughten it. Worst case you are putting in a new transfercase, new/used that is. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I wouldn't have bought the jeep after seeing that. No telling what all other retarded crap he has done to/with the same jeep.

It really is a great Jeep, that happened because he left the original drive shaft in it after he did a shackle reversal. Before it goes anywhere else, I will have a Tom Woods long travel or ultimate travel drive shaft put in. I knew full well what I was getting into when I bought her. I'm already pondering an Atlas II down the road but was hoping to get the NP231 operational until then. Just like every other Jeep out there, it needs a little something here and there from time to time.
