So I'm starting to look for a wrangler. I've seen a few at dealerships that have been lifted and had larger tires put on but of course, the salesmen have no idea what has been done to the Jeep. Is there any way I can tell if the previous owner changed the gear ratio to match the new tires?

Open up the diffs and count them. Or if you're a good talker, have them do it then redo the rtv gaskets.

I got the dealer to do a whole bunch of stuff if they wanted me to buy my Jeep; interior clean, rubber floor matts, replace soft top components, oil change, engine shampoo etc. You can convince them to do it. Knowing your gear ratio is important, esp if its aftermarket. Was it done correctly?? I'd put it to them that way.
