Are the diff cover bolts supposed to be 35 ft/lbs? That's what the Haynes manual stated. I stripped on of the bolts (when using a torque wrench set to 35 ft/lbs). Not sure why this happened, unless the book is wrong...

If it stripped out at 35 lbs, it was probably already bad from the PO.

x2. in reality, i just get out the ratchet and tighten them down. i don't think it is overly important to have those bolt to the exact spec.
x3 i just get em snug you'll know if its too tight

Thanks guys. I agree...if the bolt stripped with a torque wrench, either somebody overtightened the bolt in the past, or my torque wrench is screwed. I layed a piece of cardboard under the diff yesterday. Hopefully, I won't have any leaks.
