I have a 2001 Sierra. I had the rear diff. rebuilt a couple of months ago, which was a year after a mechanic at a different shop replaced the yoke seal and over torqued the nut.
My problem now is there’s gear oil coming out of the vent. It has the stock cover and the mechanic says the jeep was level and the new oil was at the thread level. I checked the level after noticing the seepage and it was about a half inch low, I added oil (80w-90) to the threads. The mechanic and I are baffled? Any ideas?
I keep reading it’s because of overfilling. The tj hasn’t been lifted.
