Disconnecting the Battery

I was told that if you disconnect the battery in a JK (it's a 2014), that the radio will require a code before it will function. Any truth to this?

Not sure if there's a internal battery that looses power eventully but I've had the battery disconnected for a few hours with no ill effects.
Not true on a 2012 or a 2015, been there and done that numerous times. The radio always work just fine.

If you remove the radio and put it in another JK or compatible vehicle, you would then need a code.
Over night no issues, It's when the radio sees a different vehicle computer (or vise versa) the code is needed
Forgot about the communication over the can-bus. Makes sense.
Awesome info, thanks guys. This is my better half's ride that she bought new. I wouldn't want to kill her tunes.

Is the code available from the dealer?
