Decided to put an LED bulb in my dome light because it's d-a-r-k in my JK.

Carefully pulled the dome light cover off and the next thing you know it snapped loose - one of the prongs broke - and then the dome light fell out of the speaker bar. Yup, prongs broke on it too.

Ugh.

Replacements are like $30!!! Someone got a source for a cheaper dome light or is someone making a better dome light that fits in that hole, looks better, performs better etc?

A final note - just tried to super carefully get the light bulb out of the rear dome light ... and broke it too.

The dome light assembly has four tabs that are holding it up and there appears to be no way to get the thing out of the rollbar/ceiling without fracturing those. Then they don't have enough tension and "snap" to hold the dome light in place. It's maddening.

The moral to the story is IF YOU ARE CHANGING BULBS HOLD THE DOME LIGHT ASSEMBLY FIRMLY AGAINST THE TOP AND DON'T PULL IT OUT. Tugging on the bulb can be enough to break it. Use one hand to keep the dome light assembly in place and get the bulb out with the other.

Or you'll be super gluing your dome light back up there ...
