On my 07 JKU I have been hearing a cracking/clanking sound lately from underneath the jeep it happens usually when I'm going slow and usually when I put some gas in to it.. I know the tie Rod is supposed to have up and down play but the drag link aswell? Reason I think it may be the drag link is when I move it up and down I can replicate the noise some what but can't replicate it or know where it's coming for for sure as I can't see under their when it actually occurs, but it sounds almost Identical just not as loud as I'm sure it would be louder and more forceful when the jeeps in motion as I can hear it from inside the cabin .. If anyone has heard of this or could help me out I would really appreciate it.

yes. drag link has the same amount of play as the tie rod. its got the moog ends like the tierod.

check your sway bar links.

Ok thanks man ill check my sway bar links they are quick discos... Do you or anyone know the proper torque spec for the sway bar links?

Tight..

I don't think it's your problem. You can check the tie rod ends using channel locks or a jack stand and a crow bar. You are checking for up and down play.

Quick disco's are sometimes noisy.

the nut that hold the pin onto the bracket normally gets pretty loose.

so check the nut holding the pin or whatever its called. mine would make noise because it wasnt tight.
