We are from Chicago IL heading into northern michigan - drummand island - for the jeep jamboree there in june 2016. thinking about heading into ontario the following week for vacation. looking for suggestions about where we might be able to wheel in southern ontario? what's legal? what's not? i see lots of stuff about snowmobiling. but nothing about jeeps. any suggestions an area to stay in or avoid? traveling with 2 jeeps and 2 teenagers. any input would be greatly appreciated!

depends how far into Ontario you want to go. if you want to spend a few days, I'd say get a campsite or room at southwind motel/campground in minden, and make the trek up there. lots of great trails in that area, but you're looking at probably 6-7 hours of a drive to get there from the border.

If you're up to Drummond Island, why not cross @ the Soo & head up towards Halfway Haven:

Halfway Haven Lodge - Home

That's 1 suggestion.

Lot's more Crown (public) Land to explore in northern rather than in southern. If camping, check this out:

If you have firearms, I'd advise you to leave them @ home. Showing up @ the border w/o the proper import papers won't end up well.

Hope you have a good trip :)

Finally decided to stay of Lake Shore Salzburger Hof Resort after the Jamboree next month. They say there are tons of trails in the area for us. Anyone have info on this. Good? Bad?
