Hi,

Jeep lover forever here, but never owned one myself.. it's about to change :p

I'm currently looking into getting myself a brand new 2023 2 doors Wrangler Sport S and I am wondering about which roof to get or maybe both?

I live in eastern Canada so winter around here is pretty harsh so I'm thinking hardtop for winter, but I'd love the quick removal of the softtop during summer,

I have plenty of space to store the tops while not on jeep, so this is not a problem.

I see a dual top option mentionned at a few places, but I can't find this option when building a jeep on the website. Does this option exists for the 2 door Sport S ?? Or can I just order it with hardtop and buy a softtop from my dealer at the same time?

I need some light here please !

Welcome to the forum!

I don’t know if the dual top is available on the 2-door. I think I read somewhere that Jeep can’t package both tops in a 2-door due to lack of space.

Yes, you can buy the soft top later from your dealer, from an online Jeep dealer, or from one of the large Jeep outfitters like Quadratec, Extreme Terrain, Northridge 4x4, etc. Sometimes you can also find them used on Craigslist, Marketplace, eBay, etc.

Good luck.

That’s interesting but believable. The softtops for the JL come crated in the back of the 4door (and it takes up all the back with seats down) rather then tucked in the installed position like they use to in the JK. I can see there not being enough room in a 2dr to ship the top.
Maybe you can make a deal with your dealer to order one for you with your Jeep order. Or they may have one at the dealership that someone didn’t want.

I know my (bought used) 2015 2dr Sahara came with the dual roof option, as indicated on the window sticker. Unfortunately the PO didn’t trade it with the soft top.

I did buy a Bestop Sunrider which was easy to install, quick and easy to open/close and provides all the sun and air I desire.

@aldo90731 is correct. I have a 2 dr and the dual top option is not offered on the 2 dr. They claim it is due to the box being too big to ship in the back of the Jeep from the factory, I don't know if that is true or not but if you believe you want a hard top I would get the hardtop from the factory and add a soft top later. It is much more difficult to add a hard top later than to add a soft top and hard tops are more expensive and harder to find after the fact.

Personally I would get the hard top and get a aftermarket soft top. Instead I would get the dual doors option.
This is exactly what I would do! OP if you go this route make sure to find a soft top that you like in order to decide if you need the black diamond (standard) or twill (premium) uppers.

I started building one jeeps site before I posted to see if they were a option. Dual door group lowers only was $2250 for a 2 door. There was 2 other options one for sail cloth or twill uppers for a little more $. I would love to have a set of factory half doors for my JK.

Everyone who has stated that dual tops are not available on the JL 2 door is correct. I can confirm that the shipping crate is too large to fit in a 2 door. I bought my 21 JLR with a hardtop and then bought a MOPAR soft top a few months later.

If you want both, I would definitely purchase with the factory hardtop and then buy a soft top. Soft top options for the 2 door are VERY limited. The only 2 available in ‘21 was the factory top and the Bestop Trektop. Since I wanted a soft top I could fold down instead of remove, the factory soft top was the only viable option. They are expensive and availability was limited in ‘21, but that may have improved by now. The dealer quoted me 6 week minimum for delivery, but I was able to get it elsewhere quicker.

If you go that route, be sure to check shipping costs when comparing prices. Quadratec’s price was higher than competitors, but give free shipping. After figuring shipping costs, they were in line with everyone else.

Per above- get that hard top for sure. They're expensive and hard to come by used- and people know it. They're priced high even used. I have a 2012 JK that has never had a hard top. I've always been a top-down Jeeper but I live in California. I have a 2021 JLU now- which came with an insulated hard top. I've been pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is. With the cold it might be worth the extra $$$. It is something you can do later though.
Here is another option you can consider down the road- the Bestop Sunrider. It's expensive to be sure. I'd planned on getting a soft top for my JLU but I bought this instead. And now I don't think I'll ever get a soft top. (The 4 doors have a lot more wind noise- part of it.) This is VERY well built. Nothing like the older models. Easy to pop back and enjoy the sun. When closed I don't notice a difference in noise vs. the freedom panels.
