I have always wondered how to check an ECM for correct operation or failure? Had mine die a year or so ago and have always wondered since. I have also read a few threads About what sounds like an ECM issue and were it is common I'm surprised it's not a sticky yet.

As far as I know there is no real way to check one. When I had trouble with mine, I had talked to 3 or 4 mechanics and they also had no way to check them..

That's a kinda expensive part to be throwing at a jeep but who knows, that's why I ask. My mechanic told me in a half hour that it was running and needed a ECM. Maybe there is a way to bypass it to give you the answer
