Alright I've narrowed down my choice to one of these two winches. Please don't turn this into "Warn is better" or "don't buy Chinese" thread. These are the two I am interested in.

Does anyone have any direct experience with both who can give an opinion?

I was all set on the Q9000 until I stumbled onto the option of the E9000S with the synth/hawse option for just over $100 more. But taking that out of the equation is one better then the other??

Spec wise the Engo has a bigger motor (5.5 vs 4.8hp) but slower line speed (6.9 vs 8.6) and has a lower amp draw (280 vs 300). Also the gear ratio is higher on the Engo (235:1 vs 212:1)

What are your thoughts on the two??

I have the Engo 9000,and chose it for the same reasons you researched in your post.
As a side note,when I called Engo I spoke with one of the owners after the second ring.

Personally, I think motor size, amperage draw, and ratio far out weigh line speed. Winching typically is not done as a speed race.

With that said, my buddy has been running the Qtec winch for several months with no issues to report.

Line speed sometimes seems unimportant to someone who isn't real experienced with winching and/or offroading. For simple winch jobs where someone is simply stuck and needs an assist over or out of an obstacle, winch speed is indeed not important.

There are however commonly encountered offroad situations where line speed is indeed important. That is why a faster line speed may need to be part of the decison making process. And why some winches are even specifically made with faster line speeds. My previous Warn HS-9500i was a good example... the "HS" stood for High Speed.

One offroad situation, for example, where a fast line speed becomes important is when you're winching yourself along a tough stretch of trail with several difficult obstacles in a short distance which is common on some trails. It's important the winch be able to keep up with the Jeep's forward speed between those obstacles or the rope can end up in a snarl or "bird's nest". A slow winch will allow the wire or rope to tangle/snarl when the Jeep makes faster forward progress between those obstacles than the winch can keep up with.

I understand that line speed does come into play, but I was focusing on the two winches he was asking about. Between the two, the Engo looks better on paper than the qtec, other than the line speed.
In the grand scheme....comparing those two only....the faster line speed of the Qtec would not make it the winner.

For me the deciding factors were the "Winch Shootout" article and being able to talk to one of the owners of the company that was willing to offer his support anytime to me after the sale.
After talking to Joel,I realized the he and his family understood our needs.

I have the Engo E12000 and next month will be a year of trouble free use. I have used it a lot..... 20-30 times and works great. I have a wireless remote and relocated the solenoid box under my hood. I love it. The only drawback to wireless is you can't 'blip' the winch, slightly delayed .... After a few uses with it, you get the hang of it.

I made my choice from the winch shoot out as well

The Engo did pretty good in Four Wheeler's winch test,it came in 3rd.That syn rope deal sounds like an unbeatable price,too! To me,line speed at full load is not an issue, most electric winches are real slow at full load,but a higher speed at no load means it doesn't take all day to respool.

I want to thank you guys for your input! I appreciate it, I went ahead and went with the Engo E10000S! I couldn't pass up on the cost difference for the synthetic version. Then when I went to order the E9000S it was brought to my attention I could get the E10000S for only $20 more!

TNDZ, do you happen to have any pics of your mounting setup for the Solenoid box under your hood? I was thinking of installing mine there as well, not sure what all was involved with that..

I will go snap one for you.... I made a bracket them resembled the mounting on the winch itself, then mounted that to the fenderwell..... Sorry about the glare....

Thanks for the pic!

Did the winch come with enough wiring to fit it there? Or did you have to buy new wiring to get it routed?

Also you said you have the wireless controller, is it possible to still use the wired controller?

I saw another post while I was researching (sorry i forgot who) where they had put the connector for the wired remote inside the cab in the dash, I am guessing they had to rewire the unit to add the length to get it up there as well? I really like that idea!

No problem....

You must buy the wire. The solenoid box only has enough wire to mount it on the winch only. You will be able to use some of the original long black and red cables, but you will need more for extending the solenoid connections back to the winch. Don't forget to purchase quality connectors of the right size to terminate your wires.

The plug for my winch is still accessible under the hood... You can always take it out of the solenoid box, extend all the wiring up under the dash if you wish... I don't need to. Or you can just tap into the wires in the box and buy a 3-way momentary toggle switch ( used with a relay ) to have IN-OFF-OUT control at the dash.
