You would know if you were in bad shape. The 42RLE would go into limp mode and you would have to chug home in 2nd gear.
Is anything like that happening? Can you feel a slip into overdrive?
Usually a P0700 will trigger limp mode due to a torque converter malfunction. If you're not going limp, you could check all electrical connections and fluid lines into the transmission for corrosion or damage. Also check the fluid for general quality.
Have you changed the fluid and filter at all? That could help. At least to get a look at the fluid and any excessive debris.
When you reset your pcm, is that via battery disconnect for a few minutes? Or battery disconnect / headlight switching?
