2013 JKU automatic with stock tires and 3.73 gears.

We were using it last winter in 4 high and we could disable the system by holding the button down. This let the wife have some fun in the snow.

I was using 4 low for the first time last weekend and I think there’s an issue. The odometer displayed ESCOFF as expected. I was climbing a pretty steep gravel hill and midway up the power seemed to drop and the ESC light was flashing. The tires were spinning some before the light started flashing. I thought that the full system was disabled in 4 low. Could this light indicate something else?

Hi BirchyBoy,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you are not able to gain clarity based on the advice provided here, we kindly recommend connecting with your local Jeep dealer. Our team is available via private message if you are in need of any assistance with that process.

This is not normal behavior in 4L.

That’s possible. Thanks for thinking of that. I’ll explore that some more.
