hey everyone, i have been having problems with an about 1- 1 1/2 in pipe that connects from the exhaust manifold to somewhere in the back of the jeep. now the pipe once broke where it crosses right under the jeep next to the oil pan, so i went and bought a pipe thing lol from lowes that connected the split pipe. my problem now is that it broke at a bend so i dont know how i am supposed to fix it and now i cant get it inspected without the repair. any help would be helpful. do i even need this pipe or can it be removed and not worried about? know where to buy a replacement?

well i just had to totally redo my exhaust (although im just really learning about cars, i mean i can change oil, but exhaust was totally new!) with the help of my dad, and i think the pipe your are talking about is the head or front pipe?

its not one long pipe from the manifold to the back, its a front pipe into the catalytic converter, then from that to the muffler i think, then another pipe from the muffler to the back where the exhaust comes out (tail pipe).

so i guess depending on where the break is, maybe you can just replace that part of pipe? im not positive, but hope this helps.

I am not sure if I am totally following you, but I think you are looking for exhaust pipes with a bend(s)...

Check your local parts store. I would bet they have what you need.

its not the tail pipe or exhaust pipe that connects to the muffler, it is alot smaller that those...about 1 or 1and 1/2 inch, the tail pipe is 2 inch or 2 1/2. mine is a 90 model. the pipe i am talking about comes from the exhaust manifold then from driver to passenger side and back. it comes out of the middle of the manifold doesnt connect to the end like the exhaust pipes.

Are you talking about the pulse air tube that comes off a nipple on your manifold and connects into the air intake for your Carter carb? There is also one that connects into your catalytic converter to return air to the carb. If you have emissions you will need them to get inspected.

That's what it sounds like to me. That piece that JustGotAJeep found might be what you will have to get to replace the broken one. There is a nipple on the cat that will be a bit of a pain to get to. (you can milk anything with nipples. I have nipples, Greg, can you milk me:rofl: ) When I read what I wrote this just came to me...made me laugh.
