"My Jeep won a war. Your Honda mows my lawn."

Nuff said
At my age, 62, I do not have to explain anything to anyone. It's my life and that's all there is to it.
I just say

"Your girlfriend loves it." Or
"Hop in. Ill show ya!"

Love it, exactly the way I feel @ 46. Although, 26 years of public service may have accelerated my attitude just slightly.:thumb:
Its a Jeep thing you won't understand :p
Compared to almost every other vehicle out there, a jeep is a most miserable example of comfort. It is rough, bumpy, noisy, cold in the winter and hot in the summer. You will jolt your skeleton just driving the damn thing... but all that is OK. Why? Because out of all the vehicles out there, only the jeep (and a few other vehicles) make the simple drive to the grocery store worthwhile. You actually feel like you are driving a vehicle as compared to "feeling" like you are sitting on your living room sofa playing a racing video game on TV. The jeep is not fast, it is not complicated, but it is an American treasure that I am proud to own. It makes driving special... because sometimes it gets boring, oh so boring...

I am glad I am one of the few who actually owned a WWII 1942 Willy's and drove it in the field a lot. It truly was "living history." That was a privilege.

Take care,

I had 31 years of corporate life and like the company Romney ran, got downsized earlier this year for bottom line profits.
Chicks dig 2 types of vehicles: muscle sports cars and jeeps.
I don't care about fast cars. So got a jeep. I also enjoy the simplicity. My only gripe is lack of space and if I had bought a LJ instead of a TJ that wouldn't be an issue. So my mistake.
1SAS, I wish I could have an original Willys before I leave this life, I would be very proud to take care of it and show it around for young people to learn about that Great Historical Machine. Liked your post, my respect and admiration to you for being a gentleman. :punk:
I like how I can run to the grocery store or thru the grocery store, take a Sunday drive on the back road or go over the mountain and make a short cut. My jeep is me
Can anybody help me move this Thread to the "General Jeep Discussion" section ? How ?
I may only be 31, but I have owned 11 vehicles now...only one of which was wrecked. So in all, I would rather have my TJ. Now I always wanted one when I was younger but we know the sad truth of being 16...insurance answers the question of "Can I afford it?"

I would rather have this simply because of its history, presence and innate capabilities. My wife owns a new Prius. Its brilliant for what it is but when I drive it I just feel anemic. It's driving an appliance- she likes that sort of thing but for me its inorganic. I need to feel organic, gritty, connected. Sure, I personally would like an additional 10mpg's out of the thing just so I could drive MORE but oh well, I knew the 'cost' before buying it.

As cliche as it may seem, I personally LOVE the saying "you may go faster, but I can go anywhere." This TJ serves as a way for me to get away, if even for a few fleeting minutes after a long day at work.

What does Romney have to do with this?

I drive my jeep because I like it more than any vehicle I have owned. I have usually had SUV's for the past 12+ years, but drove a Chevy Colorado for the last 4. I love the short wheelbase of the jeep...I love being able to pull in and out of tight spaces in a parking lot...I love how you can still fit a ton of stuff in the back if you are creative with the packing...I love how you can take the top and doors off it and because an entirely different animal!

I'd say what I like best is that it is the perfect combination of a convertible and 'truck'. Best of both worlds for me - I used to have a 65 chevy convertible and my truck and I liked the ride height of the truck but of course the top-off of the convertible.
What other vehicle can you get that offers 4 wheel drive when you need it and a convertible in the summer? Also look at all the different ways you can build your jeep! A convertible you step down out of and not feel like your trying to get your rear out of a trashcan! lol
I decided I wanted a jeep after driving my buddies 87 VW Cabriolet... oddly enough
Why do I drive a jeep!? There is nothing better than the top down the sun on my face finding that new trail on a crisp fall day. Then finding that picture perfect lake doing a little fishing building a fire and camping for the night. That's why I drive a jeep!
a jeep is like an extension of oneself that you can take out and play with in front of everyone and they all stare in utter amazement at how big and cool it is.

I think the "extension of oneself" sums it up lol. Once you change it to make it your own, it kind of becomes part of you. You love it, you miss it while its away, etc...

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha I'm going to think of this every time someone asks me why, and probably during every quiet social function at which I shouldn't be randomly bursting out with laughter but will anyway.
