I am a noob but I am learning fast however something has been troubling me. I cannot for the life of me figure out the Jeep Alphabet. I can't make logical sense of it but I know someone here can.

Why are the Jeeps labeled J/K, Y/J T/J C/J ????

Can someone help? I know that for example the J/K is 2007 til now but WHY is it J/K??? Whats next?

cj-civilian jeep
yj-yuppie jeep
tj-town jeep
jk-jeep knockoff
jku-just kinda ugly

 Funny, but wrong on so many levels.

CJ was indeed Civillian Jeep but the rest are just model designations issued by the various owner's of the Jeep name.

An its not just a Jeep thing, mopar uses the 2 letter codes for every model... I.e. RS = Town an Country/ caravan, PT = Pt Cruiser, DR = Dodge Ram, an so on

I believe the Viper is like ZB or something, I'd have to get on my pc to look it up though
