Noticed my Tailgate spot welds starting to separate, so I guess I've limped it along long enough. I'll need to get the tire off the tailgate.

I've been researching tire carriers, saw the Teraflex brace/tire carrier, but at 700 dollars, I'm hoping I can find a bumper/tire carrier.

I've seen Rancho has one around 500, Olympic 4x4 mid 500's.

Here's my question... Anyone know of any smaller fab shops that would have a tire carrier for less than 500? I'd imagine some of the smaller fab shops may be trying to get their name out and offering tire carriers at pricing that's at least a little better than the big name brands.

Also open to used ones if someone is looking for a reason to get rid of theirs!

I'm in the same boat, but trying to catch it earlier. I'm looking at some bumper tire carrier combos that will be the same price as teraflex's solution without adding too much unnecessary weight

I don't have one yet but the DV8 stuff looks good and there was a front and rear combo on ebay for less then a grand. I don't know if they sell direct or not but there on the forum here. Once I am ready to get the stuff I was going to check with them.

I actually have the Smittybilt oversized tire carrier. It handles the tire good, BUT at the end of the day, the tire is still hanging on the tailgate, and popping welds like a pill addict popping pills. It's not that bad, but I notice the rattling from the tailgate getting worse over the last month.

Thanks on the recommendation for the DV8 brand. I'll check them out!

Checked out DV8, they sell through online retailers, at least from what I could see on their site.

Best pricing out of the vendors they have is Sullivan motors in Arizona. 630 for the RS-1 rear bumper and carrier. Not a bad price, definitely a good one to add to the list. Any other recommendations? I like smaller brands and fab shops. As an aspiring entrepreneur, I like supporting small business if possible.

How long did it take for you to start noticing the wear and tear? Just curious thank!

And definitely not a small vendor but I'm looking at some of the smittybilt carriers for the weight and price.

I bought the Jeep from a dealer that installed the wheels/tires/ and lift in house with 7k about 1.5 years ago. I now have 32k and the rattle really only started about a thousand miles ago. I can see the few welds that are starting to break on the inside of the tailgate. I feel like the rattle is getting worse even over the last few weeks. I've got 18inch pro comp wheels with 35 inch tires. So the combos prob close to 80 pounds.

I can agree. I love that price, I'm just so leery of bumpers off EBay. I've heard everything from the bumper being good and the paint just needing to be redone to pieces not fitting or failing prematurely.

Really appreciate the heads up. Definitely one to add to the list!

I took the spare off my tailgate last weekend and the Jeep seems a lot happier. Less to shake around back there, and the tailgate is a joy to open / close now.

I did have to realign the gate by adjusting the hinges, but it seems to be pretty happy now. Soooo.....I guess I'm in the market for a bumper with a tire carrier.

It never ends

I've heard some horror stories about eBay bumpers and their issues with hardware and not lining up properly. Love the price though!
I was worried as well until this thread showed up
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/ko-offroad-or-dv8-offroad-bumpers-983049.html

Once I read it I was sold on getting them. Seems DV8 makes the KO stuff and DV8 is a member and has been very good at helping people with issues. I like the price and the service seems to be very good. Has sold me. I just need to get back home so I can order my stuff and get to work on it.
