I run Detours Drop-Kick Slyders and like them :). I've used them as jack points with a hi-lift. I also use them to pivot around rocks a lot. My wife uses them as a functional step (which is the original reason why I got them).

I've got Smittybilt SCR side armor/side steps. I love'em, you drill your own holes and bolt them right onto the frame. I can jump up and down on them with confidence, but they haven't seen the rocks yet so can't say much for the "side armor" part haha. I definitely recommend though

Why not get sliders with a step feature? They're actually functional in protecting the Jeep and also work as a step. "Nerf bars" are a liability on the trails.
