Wheeling yesterday I max flexed up front and I heard a sharp rip sound. When I got home and looked at my video I noticed that one tire got hit by the bracket that I left behind after I removed the factory OEM fenders. This bracket...

And here is the tire damage...

Can I cut off this bracket and not worry about future mods. I wanted to install genright flat aluminum fenders in the future and was wondering if this bracket would be needed for that or other mods. Probably going to start working on this tomm. My other question is ....
Is this thing welded on or being held by bolts? I can't remember..TIA

I don't know that I would cut it off. I might just add a bit of length to my bumpstops. If you ever put fenders back on you'll need it. Some aftermarket fenders use it for support as well.

Add some bump stop so at full stuff you just clear. Both aftermarket fenders I have run on my Jeep have tied into this bracket though neither were Genrights. Chances are if you are hitting this bracket you will probably hit the Genright fenders once installed if you don't add bump stop anyway.

I took a quick search through Genrights website and unfortunately no instructions are available but I did notice if you look through their build section that it looks like the bracket is tied into their fender. I didn't find any direct pics of the bracket but there are pictures showing it is still existing with their fenders installed.
