Firestik as AM/FM antenna

Yes, I have searched and have read over many threads - even emailed the company but haven't received a response. So, does anyone know if I can use the firestik as a regular antenna, and not CB (I have enough friends already)? Looking to relocate antenna to the rear spar, as I love the look. What would I need if you have done this?

I used a 2' fire stick for my AM/FM radio, but not relocated like you want to do. I started out with this kit from Qtec:

Quadratec Exclusive JK-ANT - CB Style AM/FM Radio Antenna for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

which gives you a stud, cap an 4' cb styled antenna.

When I installed my CB, I ordered a 2 pack of 2' Firestick antennas from Ebay. Since I had the extra one, I swapped out the CB styled antenna for the 2' Fire stick and it worked fine for me.

I've read that I should have problems, but I never did. If you live out in a rural area, you may have reception problems, especially AM radio, but I never had an issue.

You are going to need the antenna and mount and coax cable (of course) then something like this:

Amazon.com: Truckspec 10feet AM/FM Antenna Coaxial Cable RG-58A/U Coax With PL-259 To Motorola Plug TS-307C: Electronics

The coax is only 10 foot, so you'll probably need an extension. You can use the regulat 18 foot CB Coax with some sort of CB to AM/FM adapter/splitter like this:

Amazon.com : Firestik AR-1A Splitter CB AM FM Radio Audio Stereo Antenna Tuner Match Maker : Electronics

If you are using the stock radio, you'll also need (I think it's this one);

Vin...thanks so much! This really helps!
They have adapters in the $20 range for that, if you want a different mount. You're going to end up around $60 with the mount, adapter, and coax, but atleast you can have unlimited options!
Im not sure i would do it on the same antenna. If the am/fm coax is even *near* the cb coax, or the wiring near a coax, you get a lot of interesting things happening when you key up. Mostly FM interference.

I used to have a car where i'd key up the mic and i'd have talkback over all the speakers in the car....haha. Caused a lot of feedback problems.

CB Antenna that screws onto your JK antenna mount

we are coming out with these very shortly. Regarding pricing, what would the JK community pay for a 2ft tall CB antenna (non Firestik brand) that screws onto your stock JK antenna mount? This CB Antenna actually works just like your stock antenna without loosing any stations (even AM) and might actually improve reception in some cases.

I want one! $20-$30?

keep in mind most cb antennas retail for $20 without any connections plus shipping
after checking out the Quadratec one listed for $62.99:

Quadratec Exclusive JK-ANT - CB Style AM/FM Radio Antenna for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

Seems a bit pricey for most of us, and overkill regarding the extra base. So we decided there has to be a simpler / less expensive option for those who want that rugged CB antenna look on their factory antenna mount with a simple screw on installation.

If it helps that's great, I've avoided the stubby antennas because I've heard mixed reports on reception. I listen to AM far to often for local news and local sports, as well as Rush and others.

I love my stubby. Picks Up am and satelite great! Some of the fm are a bit faded on occasion, but it's far shorter than the stock. I give the stubby a 93 out of 100.

I agree on the cost, but I wanted a longer antenna to mount on the spare tire. However, I have had a stubby for two years and have great reception, but not big on the look. I prefer the longer antennas. I checked antenna x's site first, but no solution for me. I do like the new prototype, and would probably pay up to $35 for it. It is the best looking stock replacement I have seen thus far.

Does very shortly mean by the end of the year?? Price, since $20-30 was shot down, $39.99??

ok, it can be done but you would have to get behind the stock radio to add a splitter in the glove box, as well as 2 adapters. see attached pics:
