Figured I'd go ahead and make a build thread, need to make a list of things I need and to keep track of what's been done.

Picked up a 92 yj, 2.5 5speed with a SOA lift 35" mtrs, brand new top and a whole heap of problems, but it has a winch!. Most of the things were done correctly with a few hiccups, like wiring! It's everywhere!! Good god and it's only got 3 aftermarket lights...and 8 switches albeit probably had allot more goodies lol

This thread is also open to suggestion, I've never built a wrangler before and I only had brief experience with a zj lol been more of a Toyota guy but i beat and rolled my runner out of existence. The 4runner being the 3rd Toyota I've built I figured it was time for a change...y'alls aftermarket sure is nice!

Goals: I'd like to build a moderate wheeler on 37"s and be able to drive it to and from the trails but with a little more comfort. I know realistically these axles are doing allot to put up with 31"s so I'm looking for easy axle swaps. Probably the Ford explorer 8.8.. And I guess either a mid 70s Ford Dana 44 or wagoneer 44.

list of to do's:

Phase one, to get it on the trails.

1: front springs are bent so probably all around, stock wagoneers? apparently stock front toy springs with as well. Any insight would be helpful, been going through alot of builds but more info is always appreciated

2:Change the cracked ax5 bell housing,(ordered one for a 94 external slave so I'll be converting yay.)

3: Change clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and rear main. "Ordered"

4: Change fluids and get a good look at my gears (they got fancy ARB covers, maybe I'll get lucky..lol yeah right)

I'll keep adding to this thing as it gets worked on and more problems arise, should be pulling that sweet a as ax5 Saturday -_-

Well then, just learned the hard way there is no edit post here lol...anyway finally got my pictures to upload to Photobucket,

Picture of the bent springs, I'm assuming from the shackle inverting, maybe some boomerangs are in order?





Picked up a "used" tire carrier for my bumper for a smooth $120 shipped lol

edit comes with post a certain number of times. then the ability to use it on a thread only lasts for a certain time period. it's spelled out in one of the introductory threads. Nasty on the bellhousing. likely cheaper to replace than have someone weld it up.

Got it! And yes I'm replacing the bell, it was only around $115 bucks if I remember correctly, but changing over to an external slave cost another $100 bucks 😬

Got some time to work on it today, swapped out chrome LED headlights for all black ones







And then on to the fun stuff, got the transmission pulled and bell housing off one of these days I'll invest in a proper transmission Jack






She had a good ole crack in it



The rest of the clutch parts get here hopefully Monday or Tuesday, still on the slate is changing the input bearing retainer over to an external slave style and associated seals as well as the clutch and pressure plate as well

Got a little bit of work done on the ole heep between the rain, new input shaft bearing retainer clutch fork and bell housing put on, still have to find the bolts for the external slave yay

Small update, got the clutch in the mail and all the pieces to convert it over to external slave, "not too bad actually"



Saw a heim joint transfer case linkage online and figured id give it a shot at sourcing my own oarts, used 3/8s heims a threaded rod and two jam nuts....not bad but it cost me probably more than what the part offline costs lol oh well.



And finally got around to ordering the tailgate bar so I don't have a waterfall in the cargo area anymore!






Decided to take her for a quick spin knowing it needs springs and shocks...good greif this thing feels like its got cinder blocks for suspension, gonna have to get that taken care of ASAP, look at all that flex hahaha




Gonna be drilling a new center pin location for the rear to fix the too long of a drive shaft issue and hopefully some waggy front springs if I can find em and finally take this goof troop of an SUV off-roading

Got a bunch of stuff done to it here recently, I re-drilled the Rear spring perches an inch back to to help with the rear drive line issue, "being too long" and took it out again.



got to do my least favorite thing, cutting fenders.





took it for a shakedown run to make sure driveshaft cleared and didn't fall out lol







found out that my sweet double steering damper hits my leaf spring...



finally made a decision and ordered new front springs, got some RE SOA 1.5" springs and coupled that with some 1.5" boomerang shackles... apparently one of the springs broke out of the box in transit lol luckily there were no bolts or bushings...



Installed the springs today

almost forgot a before shot for comparison

gained some height but im sure it'll settle a bit, if not ill pull a leaf. gonna need some longer shocks soon..need to measure up for em.





got rid of the sick double damper setup...one new one will do later on lol





that's it for the moment, ill be ordering some RE springs for the rear in a month or two but ill be swapping in a SYE kit at the same time.

next on the list will be taking care of the switches and crap in the cab.

yes unfortunately that's a decent sized rust hole, when i tear down the rear to change springs ill be taking care of that as well with some reinforcement patch panels. might be awhile though lol...i feel like if im doing all this "SYE, Rear springs, shackles, patching the frame. i might as well toss an 8.8 in there..... but decisions decisions
