Last year I replaced the fluid in my 5 speed with Redline MT 90. The old fluid came out looking like a chocolate shake (probably from a water crossing by the previous owner). Oddly enough it shifted perfectly fine before the fluid change, and it still shifts perfectly fine today.

Fast forward 1 year (5,000 miles), it still shifts fine, but I'm wondering if I should change the fluid out again, just to get rid of any left over residual "chocolate shake".

I just want to make sure I'm not gonna be wasting my time/money by changing out the fluid again.

Pull the fill plug after it's been driven and see if the oil is contaminated. If it looks good leave it alone, if it's nasty then change it.

Me personally, would have flushed it good with some cheap 10w30 oil before the Redline went in.
