With this Wrangler unlimited that I purchased yesterday the guy that had it before me removed the stock factory fog lights and insatlled a set of Aftermarket ones.



In looking at it he used the Factory wiring that was used for the origional fog lights. The reason why I am thinking this is because the wires are already run in the black plastic casing where all of the other light wires are located.

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to turn on these lights?! Any ideas where the stock switch would be located?

I think its on one of the levers on the steering column. Where you rotate to turn the driving lights on, you have to turn it another way for the fogs or push it or something, I'm not intirely sure though as mine is just a switch down near the sig lighter.

yeah aztj has the idea when you turn on your park-lights or head lights pull the end of the lever out and they should be on, if he used factory wiring.

My factory fog light switch is by the cigeret lighter.

Ya, the only switches down there are the rear defroster, rear wiper and O/D lock out switch. Other than that I think it may just be the the one on the end of the light lever on the steering column. I do remember it saying "Pull" but i thought that was just to turn on the high beams I'll try and pull the end of it to see if it pops out and turns on the fog lights.

my switch is down by the 4wd lever. its going away soon though going to cut off the "wings" on the front bumper and build a front light bar/stinger to mount lights up. so bye bye to the front stock lights.

took me about that long to figure out how to turn my high beams on. doh!
Dont feel bad, I drove around with my high beams on for awhile till I realised they were on. Then I had to figure out how to turn them off. I know people were going nutz on the road seeing my lights switching off,on, off, on, off and on. At 2 AM of all times!

don't feel too bad two nights ago I was driving home, while I was exhausted (too much overtime), from a dark dirt-road in the country, got on the city road, got pulled over by a cop that was driving toward me cause I forgot to turn off my H3 lamps AND hi-beams. luckly it was one of the guys I know pretty well (another jeeper too), so no ticket.

Awesome, So i figured it out, you do have to pull / twist the switch to turn them on / off.

However, How can I rig it up so the lights stay on while the regular head lights are on? Or should I just wire up a relay to kick on when the high beams are turned on?



Ya I agree with you, I am going to pick up some 16x8" Rims and get some D|ck Cepek Fun Country II's 285/75/R16 Load D range tires with 20/32nds tread depth

(This is what I have ony my Chevy 2500HD Diesel and they are awesome)

a 33" tire shouldnt really affect it will it w/ a 3.73 Gov Lock Posi?

Mine has a switch for the fog lights under the steering wheel, on the left in the dash. If the Jeep is on, so are the fog lights, unless I turn the switch off. Weird set up but it works. It was there when I bought the Jeep. It's using the factory harness however.

I asked about gears and tires in a different thread. I was told to watch out because my d35 axles wouldn't take the stress of the new tires, and I should re-gear to 4:56.

I have the Dana 44 in the rear and the Dana 35 in the front.

Is the Dana 35 the weak link w/ those 33's and 3.73 gears?

Also, are they breaking them in 4high or 4 low?

EnigmaMan - you have a Dana30 in the front. A Dana30 should be fine up to 35-37" tires.

3.73 shouldn't be too bad for 33" tires, but you might want to later regear to something like 4.56's

wire a relay up, I love switches and stuff like that cause you seem to have more control over it. Also I don't know about the laws where your at, but oregon has a law that you are only allowed 4 lights up front that are uncovered on the road when driving (including hi/low beams). its a stupid rule and there are very few people who follow it but thats just the way it is.

I doubt that Colorado has retarded law like that, this is hard core jeep / back country out here.

I will have to set it up to a relay switch so power is going to the lights when the high beams come on. and disconnect it from the stock factory wires and terminate them.

That way when the high beams kick on it turns on a relay to run the off road lights as well. I figure the only time u are going to use the high beams is when nobody is infront of you so why not set it up that way?

agreed, that is another way you could do it and it would make it a little easier for you to turn them off faster. but I love my switches! like the cockpit of an airplane HA HA.
