The foam on left side of my driver's seat is breaking down, and causing the seam on the seat cover to tear open.

Before I buy a pair of new seats, I'm wondering whether I can swap the seats?

I know I'll have to remove both seats from their frames... hopefully someone has the answer before I tear into this....

Thanks,
Bob

All of the adjustment mechanisms are on opposite sides.

The foam padding may be interchangeable, but I doubt that anything else is.

One of my seats was breaking down and the leather tearing, as part of my purchasing agreement the dealership had it fixed at an upholstery place. Might be worth looking into, probably would save you some money.

This is likely to be the best and cheapest option. The upholstery shop can replace the existing foam with a newer higher density foam, and the seat will be better than new.

Yeah, after looking at the replacement seats that are available, as well as a driver's seat with the vertical adjustment that mine lacks (from a wrecked JK), I'm gonna pull the seat and take it to the guy who worked miracles on the seats in our '77 Camaro restoration.

Besides, $300 for a "new" original seat beats $800 for replacements... then what do I do with 2 JK front seats?

Thank you all for straightening me out!
