Okay, so I have a 1993 Jeep Wrangler YJ 6cyl 4.0L automatic. It's got a hard top and is as stock as can be I believe. I bought in back in February and had taken it to a mechanic friend of my mom to do a one over. He found some things that were wrong and we replaced the big things right away and have slowly fixed the other things. Got a new radiator and a new catalytic converter as the two biggest things, oh and a complete brake job. But, things aren't so smooth.
As of late, roughly the past two-four weeks I've noticed my jeep driving strangely. It often happens at a complete stop, but have noticed it happening in higher gears. Basically, after sitting stopped at a red light or something similar, I will start to give my Jeep gas when I have the go, but my engine revs and my jeep moves like it's getting half or even just a quarter of the power to the wheels. It'll be like this for a moment, then jerk and get full power. It used to be just from first and then up to second, almost like it was stuck in neutral and first or something which can't be possible from everything I know, which isn't a whole lot sadly.
Recently, this past week to be exact, I've noticed it doing some similar things when going from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th. It's like I am losing power and then it all of a sudden kicks in. It's almost like I'm driving a stick and screwing up my clutch sometimes, but it's an automatic.
For anyone who lives in Colorado Springs, you probably heard of FNJeep. I go there all the time and love the guys there. They're helpful and I will admit that I don't know much about Jeeps compared to all you guys. Well, one of the guys there said there's a slim chance it's my fuel filter is just so damn clogged that it takes time to get the fluid going at first. But he also said most likely it's something to do with my transmission. That's my fear due to the $$$ aspect of it
So, any help, any suggestions, or any ideas would be helpful. I'm a full time student and working part time till I get my degree, so I'm hoping it's nothing bad. Please help though.
