Want to get new headlights that are brighter, i already went to PIAA extreme white bulbs but theyre still not enough. Is there any recommendations you guys have? Ive seen the stock housings replaced by an led housing (trucklites, etc) and ive seen h13 led bulbs that replace the halogens in the stock housing and then theres the HIDs.. If anyone who has aftermarket headlights/bulbs could help me out thatd be great!

I used these, they were LED replacement bulbs, $149 for the pair, and they work great. Took about 1/2 hour to install.

are they significantly brighter? And do they perform well in the rain?

Out of all the options you listed the only legal option would be truck lite or jw full led headlights. Take that into consideration.

"legal" is a matter of opinion. You will see cops pull guys over for having improperly positioned lights or even those Piaa legal watt bulbs for 'being too bright' and at the same time let little civics with HIDS run all over the place.
Just be reasonable with your lighting. I run my headlights and fogs on the road, but I treat my high output spots and light bars like brights: only on when others arent around. If swapping out your headlights creates a hazard for other drivers, then you shouldn't do it. The round housing of jeeps is terrible for creating a good output cutoff like you would see on beamers or similar vehicles.

You have to go to the lifetime led thread in regards to these before buying, BUYER BEWARE!
They may be ok if you get them adjusted so the light is pointing at 12 and you never go offloading.
You will blind the person in front of you and if you lift your jeep it will be even worse.

If you still want to get them go to eBay and buy h13 LEDs for half the price.
There is only one factory in china that makes these, they just relabel them for oracle, lifetime, raxiom, and all of the others that claim that they are their product.

If you do get them from eBay for half the price then hopefully you will be half as annoyed when you take them out due to annoyance or failure.

Oh did I mention how loud the fan on these are?
Every time you unlock your jeep the fan turns on and it sounds like a little remote control car is winding up that is until they start to die and it sound like a bunch of horny crickets.

Needless to say, I had them they had problems before I went offroading, then I went off roading and now they are dead all in about 4 months.

also depends on locale. In some places, the only legal type of lighting is exactly what came on the vehicle. If it came with old style sealed beam halogens, that's the only road legal option which makes all of these LED and HID retrofits illegal there.

I like the KC HiLites LED Headlights. They have great light output, don't need an anti-flicker harness and are less expensive than TruckLites. Let me know if you'd like a quote or if you have any questions!

Never go for the H4 type LED bulbs. They are not designed for your stock reflectors, and will just throw light here and there.

Same for HIDs

If you want HID's then replace your housing with one that is designed for HIDs.
If you want to go LED, get a properly designed bar.

lol okay mr textbook. in that case might as well condescend the 80% of wranglers that are running around with tires that arent fully covered and without mud flaps

As we all know Jeep JK's have a flicker problem when converting to LED Headlights. Since they aren't a direct connection and conversion harness is needed to make it convert, some people have noticed a slight "flutter" when idling/parked. The problem by many companies was addressed and a New Anti-Flicker Harness was made.

This kit will include the "Anti-Flicker Harness" no choices. You will get this harness included for no extra cost.

Another question that I have gotten was, "Will these lights have a heater?" Some lights have had issue's with the lens freezing up and snow/ice accumulating on the lens. VISION X has addressed this issue as well, these will not have a 'heater' but they do come with a ice-phobic coating. This coating will not allow snow/ice build up and will run great in colder temps. VISION X sell's massive amounts to Alaska and to Ice Truckers as well, so all their lights will have this coating.

As far as the HALO RING, I was able to get more information on that feature and it will have a separate wire input that you can hook up to the day time running lights or you can hook it up to another switch. The choice will be up to you.

Also as far as daytime running lights go another feature VISION X will offer is in fact a day time running light. So VISION X will have running lights, low beam, and a high beam. I believe other companies only has low and high beam.

Overall VISION X will have a much CLEANER and BRIGHTER light output compared to other LED Replacement Headlights on the market to date.

DOT approval has a catch 22 meaning jkucod12. Making it big and red doesn't make it right or correct to say. The use of the DOT symbol represents the manufacturer's own certification that the lens or lamp complies with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards, and not that the DOT has approved the product.
Anyone can mark their bulbs/products with that (and many do without any testing) as the Department of Transportation does not test or approve these. So saying they are DOT approved doesn't hold much water about whether they are safe or not to use, or meet any technical regulations now a days. These types of products are self-certified, so ask the manufacturer for documentation they meet FMVSS's (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.) This will entail specific documents and testing/measurements etc that they meet requirements of the products they are replacing (ie bulbs=focal lengths, filament locations, types, etc...), housing plastics need to be tested for use in optical equipment on vehicles/outdoor exposure tests, etc, etc... the list is huge of stuff they technically need to comply with to be "legal". Hence most aftermarket stuff is in a gray area, or will not pass period, and if it ever came to an accident and lawsuit, I'm sure the aftermarket would lose badly, and the manufactures, distributors, and dealers need to worry more than the average consumer for selling/using them...
That said, looking at the wealth of aftermarket stuff available, it looks like its not enforced well or at all anyways, so use what you like, worry about it when something happens as society often does, no?!?!

If you want the best lighting available for a JK, you want either....

hidprojectors.com units, TRS sealed 7 units, or if you want to blow 2K for the same damn thing but "legal" then the hella units. I run the HIDprojector units, but the sealed7s weren't out at the time, so I had no other option.

NFRs2000NYC: The Sealed 7 looks like around $750 assembled...if I added up all the basic options. I think the HID Projectors is around $200 cheaper. Sealed 7s look good but would you prefer those to the ones you have and why?

Honestly, I can't say if the Sealed7s are better, I haven't used them, but the tech is essentially the same. The HIDprojectors that I run do a great job, have a great cutoff, and work well. For $200 savings, I'd probably go with HIDprojectors, and use the money elsewhere.

Just got my fog led bulbs in and they dont fit in the housing.. What bulb should i buy to that will fit or what should I do to get these ones to fit?
