So I know this is possible.
I know to do it right it won't be cheap.

My questions are;
Will it be street legal? (Oregon)
Will it be street worthy?
What axles would work best for a mildly built Mopar 360?

:punk:And yes I'm stuck on the 360:dance::banghead:

How much power? Tire size? I cant help ya with oregon laws but if its done right and square, you will be able to drive it anywhere
I was thinking 35's about 37's absolute max. Not sure on width but i like narrower tires.

300-350ish on HP and torque.
I don't have an engine built or bought yet. Most likely be a budget built engine.
Nothing too extreme. Just enough to make the swap worth while.
I currently have the 2.5 so I figure a V8 swap isn't much more than a 4.0 swap.

Gotta bust out my mopar magazines

I was hoping you'd be the one to respond

well there's several things you have to think about. By using a chrysler motor your gonna have to almost keep the jeep transfer case in it. The reason I say that is that your front diff is on the drivers side and all dodge's up till I think it was 94 had the diff on the passenger side. If you go to an older dodge transfer case that will require you to have dodge/chevy front axle, which requires allot more work than a Ford one. That being said, the only axles you can use (with very minimal work) are from a 78-79 Ford F250/F350 or a 73-79 F150 extended cab. Now, all F350s had a 60 front and about 1/4 of the F250s did as well, but for the power your gonna be making and the tire size you wanna run, I'd say a 44 would be fine. If you dont wanna go 8 lug, the extended cab truck is what your looking for. That will still allow you to run a 15 inch wheel.

So I'm afraid of the answer but, for V8, what engine do you recommend the most?

Please Oh Please don't be Chevy

I am a Ford man but any motor will do as long as you stay with what you like, and what you know how to work on. I had a 93 with full widths and a 360 in it about 4 years ago that I got on trade. It used an AX15 tranny with the 231 stock case and 1/2 ton ford axles and it drove just fine. Economically, that's prolly gonna be the best bang for the buck.....just to find the donor truck is gonna be the hardest thing

So is there a Bellhousing that fits the AX15 to the 360?
How much HP and Torque can the AX15 and 231 handle?
And 1/2 axles will do fine? Say dana44 up front and what in the rear?

From what I've found on google.
A dakota V6 bellhousing that's been slightly modified gets you hooked up the the AX15.
A lot of people online seem to be concerned about the AX15's strength. But I think they are drag racers.

I'm going to start writing up a build and price sheet.
Will post it up once I have a somewhat complete list.
Maybe you guys can help me with some of the pricing.
I need to drop by my buddies house and see what kind of motors he's got (he tends to collect mopar bits and ends)
Still need to decide weather I go L.A. small block or Magnum small block.

Its been a while since I've had a mopar V8 so I need to get refreshed...
