Just traded in my '15 JK Rubicon for a '16 JKU Hard Rock.

The pixels on the dash display (EVIC) on my HR is white and fuzzy. Are all the HR's like this? The '16 Rubicon on the dealers lot is green (just like my '15) and is clear and bright.

Don't know if mine is defective or not (no other HR to compare it to) but it is hard to see and sun/glare washes it out really easily. Not to happy about that.

Also, there is no option to turn off the stupid 'ECO' message in this display, even though the owners manual says that you can, and I could on my '15. Am I missing something or is my instrument cluster a messed up cluster?

Mine is fuzzy too, I've learned to just live with it. I honestly don't notice it anymore but it stood out the night I drove it home.

My 16 HR is clear. And I do not have any "ECO" message being displayed.
Does your EVIC have the option to turn off the ECO message? It should be listed under Personal Settings.

Also is your display white or green?

Mine is white and I went through my settings and didn't see anything under Personal Settings for ECO. Closet thing I could find is Fuel Saving: On/Off. Mine is set to "On". On my display I have Direction, Temp and Radio Station that is on in my EVIC during operation.

Fuel Saving must be it. That option does not show up on mine. Instaed of having the radio station being displayed mine is either blank or 'ECO'.

What build date is yours? My was built 3 Feb 2016.

I wonder if Jeep removed that option for some reason?

My build date is 10/15. That would bug me too, if mine said that.

I just moved from a Sahara to a '16 HR and noticed that the display seemed hazy/fuzzy. I thought maybe the instrument panel was just dirty, but I cleaned it and it didn't get any better. It is annoying, but I'm learning to live with it.

I honestly thought it was just me for a while seeing things, then I saw a few other people mention it on here. To be honest it's not serious enough to let the stealership mess with, I don't trust any of them. I really don't even notice it now. If it were that bad I'd take it in. I'm really curious what the cause of it is though.

Did you get the steering wheel controls + advanced EVIC package?

I mean don't even get me started on how silly it is you have to pay extra for that. The first Chrysler cars to use the EVIC as we know it today came out in 1990.

It's a shame they keep the JK behind for no reason. All of the other vehicles are running the newer hardware, even the crappy cheap rental car trim ones.

And I would like a nice big LCD.

Yup, it's just part of the white. I don't think that it's so much that it's fuzzy, as the white just doesn't have enough contrast to compete with the sun and glare. When the sun hits it just right the digital displays will be washed out and difficult to read.

It's under your personal settings. It is in fact the "fuel saver" that was mentioned above. Set it to "off" and the ECO light will go away.

If you have a factory Nav radio, the turn-by-turn directions can be displayed there too.

If you have the ECO thing (fuel saver) turned on, you don't get the radio station info anymore, even when the "ECO" isn't displaying.

I turn the brightness setting down one notch and it makes it not so fuzzy.

Nope, not on mine. It was not listed. This is my 2nd Rubicon so I am familiar with the EVIC display and all its settings.

However something interesting happened today at the dealer. The sales guy went out to look (while I was there) and sure enough the 'Fuel Saver' option was not there....all the other options under 'Personal Settings' were.

He said it should be, so I drive it around to service.

The service adviser comes out and goes thru the 'personal settings' again (I am watching the entire time) and now it shows up!?!?! What? How did that happen? Even the sales guy (who drives a JK Rubicon) said it was not there a minute ago.

I noticed that in the drive from the sales area around to the service entrance that the odometer turned over to 75 miles.

They are thinking that it is possibly a mileage related trigger? Who knows. They did not have another HR on the lot to check.

Weird. Weird. Weird.

Because of this thread, I made it a point to check out mine the next time I was drove my Rubicon X. The white EVIC on my '14 is very clear and crisp. I can easily see each and every pixel.

If your pixels are fuzzy, IMHO, there is something defective with your display.

This isn't a perfect representation but I'm guessing this is what people are talking about? This is from my 2016 jkur-HR with a march build date. It's slightly better than the photo shows but it is certainly something I noticed. I can from an Audi and just figured this was part of Jeep charm.

Turn your dimmer down lol. It's because the white LEDs are so bright they are reflecting off the inside of the bezel.
