My buddy has a 97 Cherokee and bought a 99 4.0 from a wrangler (thought it was from a Cherokee) I know we're going to have to switch up the exhaust a little bit but I was wondering about the electrical end of it. Will all the plugs plug back up the same or are their adapters we'll have to get? Do we just hard wire it? Are they all ganna be wrong? Just kinda curious what I'm about to get into.. Anything helps. Thanks guys. Going to be starting this project Friday evening so the more I know by then the better.

All 96-99 XJ and 97-99TJ and 96-98 ZJ 4.0 are a straight bolt swap but if any sensor difference keep the ones that were used with the harness and PCM

However 2000-2001 XJ and 2000-2006 TJ and 99and newer WJ 4.0 are not a bolt on swap

I believe the XJ alternator is further away from the battery/PCU. The Wrangler harness might not have enough slack to reach it.
