Is it just me, or is it normal that my Jeep seems to run better on lower octane? I recently put 87 instead of 89 or 92-93 octane in my jeep this time and it feels more responsive and has more pep. The only thing I can think of is the I6 is built for lower octane.

If the manufacturer recommends 87 octane go with it. Any thing higher is a waste of your money. The higher octanes are made for engines with higher compression ratios and they don't burn well in a lower compression engines.

Do a little research on octane and you'll see why! Octane numbers are pretty much just a level of resistance to detonation. The lower the number the easier the fuel will burn. So yes, it would be perfectly normal to run better with a lower octane in this case as Jeep did not program anything for higher octanes.
