I have a 2000 TJ that got chewed up by pack rats. They made a mess of the wiring behind the dash starting on the passenger side and extending towards the center radio and climate controls. I have permanently removed EVERYTHING to the right of the instrument cluster. Scrapped the A/C, heater, defrost/vent plumbing, lots of wiring and the passenger air bag. I rebuilt the dash to incorporate some good storage area and don’t miss the climate control or radio...however my gauges don’t work and I’d like to know when I need to fuel up.
All lights on the cluster work and come on at startup. The turn signals work. The check engine light comes on sometime (I’ll save that for another post) The red air bag light is always on. After the jeeps running that’s the only thing that is on.
I’m sure I’ve cut a wire somewhere along the way that shut down the gauges but was hoping someone might be able to shorten the search a bit. FWIW I got the pack rats.
