image-2680674053.jpg I have a 4 cylinder sitting on a 2" suspension lift and 32" tires. I plan on adding a little more lift but leaving the tires the same, do I need to change my gear ratio?

Probably 4.11's if its the 5 speed. I would think that you would want to gear down to 4.88's with 32's. Jerry would know exactly.

From what I read general rule of thumb for 32" 4 cyl would be 4.56 OR 4.88 depending on whether City/highway used more OR a personal preference

Majnoon. I have 31" on 3.55 and haven't decided whether do go 3.73 or 4.10. Have a 4.0 and 5 speed same as you. How did 31" on 3.73 do? 3.55 seems "ok" but feel it could use a bit more oomph.

Rubicons came stock with 31s and 4.10 gears. I personally think installing 3.73s would be a waste of money.

Lift and gears have nothing to do with each other. There for the answer is no you don't need to change gears just due to the lift.

Now if you don't think the jeep has enough power with the 32's then yes you could change the gears. 4.88's would be the best based on having stock 4.11's. however most folks don't like dumping money into the dana 35 rear axle with out some other upgrades, better shafts for example or just a whole new rear axle.

If you have a 5 speed, go on to 4.88s with 32s or bigger. I you have 3 speed auto, 4.56 would be ok with 32s but anything bigger, go to 4.88. The 2.5s came with 3.73s behind the auto but should have been 4.10s and 4.10s behind the 5 spds but should have been 4.56.

Thanks for the advice! Any suggestions on how much lift I should get? I don't want to go to high because it will make my 32's look goofy.

it's a 2001 TJ 4 cylinder 5 speed manual. I would love 33's in the future but I really don't know how much it would cost and what to buy to change the gear ratio.
33's like 4.88.
31's like 4.56
32's pretty much a personal taste 4.56 or 4.88

So if you have 32's now and eventually want 33's then definitely gear for 4.88.

I dont do any "hardcore" mostly just exploring and trailblazing around the campsites so I never plan to go above 31" and 4.10s (but I have a 4.0)
