so I don't really know a lot about gears. I've been reading this site about people switching gears out to get better performance and better gas mileage etc... If I were to put 4.88 gears in my TJ what would this do? I'm looking for power, gas mileage and something that isn't going to mess up my other running gear or get messed up if I'm highway driving as well. this is my DD.

with the 4 cylinder engine 4.88s would gear you for up to 33" tires. Gears are the mechanical ability to over come the larger diameter tires. So you basically return your power band back to stock parameters.
