Ok all, I have a real doozie here. Back in the summer I removed the fuse for the door switch so the interior light would not stay on. Well the other day it just came on again all on its own and the buzzing for the headlights started working again. I was a bit perplexed and thought that I might have just loosened the fuse and it worked its way back in. Nope. No Fuse in spot number 4 at all. I know I probably have a wire grounding out somewhere but I honestly dont have any idea where to start with this one. :banghead:

Check your dash dimmer dial. If you have an earlier TJ its the knob you pull out to turn the head lights on. It twists to adjust the brightness of the dash. If you turn it all the way CCW it overrides the door switch and turns on the lights. Try turning it CW and see if that helps.

If you have a newer TJ I believe the control is on the turnsignal, but I'm not positive, but it should work the same way.

Thanks for the response peepers. I thought about your reponse and the main concern that I still have is how it would bypass the fuse. If the fuse is out that should cause a break in the circuit which would not allow the light or the buzzer for the headlights still on to function.

Doors off (dust & dirt), humid climate...I'm with the multifunction headlight switch. Corrosion and/or dust in the switch.

Bad ground as well. You'd be surprised at the bugs that can come from a flaky ground.

I havent had my fuse in since the day I got my jeep. The fuse is only for the door switches. You can still turn the interior lights on with the headlamp switch and if your keys are in the ignition or the head lights are on it will beep.

Its similar to having two switches control the same light in your house, but its either they are both off, or if one or both are on then its on.

Thanks Peepers! That was the whole issue. Still confuses me why the buzzer for the headlights works when the dash light is clicked to the bypass slot but doesnt work when it is in normal. Oh well, you learn something new everyday.
