I know theres a lot of tire questions on here but I wanted to get everyones opinion on these two tires. I will be getting 33x12.5 tires. I do live in Arizona so most of the wheeling I do is on rocks, but I only go wheeling on the weekends. So any info or pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have 33x12.5x15 Duratrac's now. I moved to Co from Ia within the last year and have driven my jeep all over both places - it is my DD. The Duratrac's are awsome! I would highly recommend them for an 'everything' type of Jeep. At the 33 size, just make sure you get the "C" rated versus the "E" rated, mainly because the "E" rating is much heavier.

On the other hand, I am prepping my Jeep to eventually run 35's with beadlocks. I will run the MT/R's then, but will always keep my 33's around on my current wheels for DD'ing and emissions testing.

You will get a good tire either way you choose.

Best of luck!

I hear the DuraTracs get a LOT of sidewall cuts, unless it was just a bad batch or two. I run the MTRs due to the tougher sidewall. In AZ and CO, I'd run the MTRs...especially in AZ.

All tires are prone to sidewall issues, even the MT/R's.

I've been on shale, coal, granite, roots, etc... with my Duratrac's and never an issue. Air down and choose good lines and one should be fine. Admittedly I will run MT/R's at 35's since they will be mainly for off-roading, but for an 'everything' Jeep I don't think anyone can beat the Durtrac's. Just my opinion...

My 06' Rubicon came off the show room with MT/R's. Here are the good and bad....Durability is awesome. I had over 100k miles with still a good amount of tread. They are terrible on wet road conditions. Limited traction, especially when pulling a trailer.

I currentley run Duratrac's. These tires are WAY better in wet conditions. Difference between night and day. Tread wear is excellent so far. Remember to do frequent tire rotations.

Both set of tires are 31's .

You had MTR/K's with more than 100,000 miles on them??? Are you sure about that?

Yep!!! I rotated the tires every 5,000 miles .Kept them at 32 psi on the street.
I have maybe 20,000 miles or so and they're not going to last much longer. I believe I've been keeping 33 psi in them on the street. I've rotated them twice probably.. I just don't see how in the world you can get more than 30-40k out of a tire like that.

The tires I had were made in 2006. Maybe they changed the compound over the years. I do believe you because I have read negative reviews about the current MT/R's on the market.

If the MT/Rs you had where from 2006 than they were not the MT/RK's that they are talking about. The MT/R is the older style and MT/RK is the newer softer style.

I love my MTR'K's. Just got back from 7 hours of sharp rocks. Most of the trails I run are rocky, some sharp and some river rock. I've got about 5000 on them. Starting to make a bit of noise though. Going to have them rotated next week. but nice on the freeway.

the e-load duratracs have a thicker sidewall than the c-loads. they also run feel rather soft for an e-load tire at 27 psi. (315/75r16) duras are also lighter, my tire and rim come out around 75lbs, not bad for a 35

I am still kicking myself from time to time for choosing the duratracs over the MTR/k, but i have a lot more pavement than trails so mileage was a factor for me. 12k on the duras and they look new still. great tire, and i'll be testing the MTR/k at some point in the future, keeping the duras as a DD tire

100K Miles on a set of Tires ? Um, ok

I bought a set of wheels from an 03 rubicon. Original tires still on them. He bought the jeep with 60K on it. I forget what was on it when they came off. Id imagine 70-75k. The original owner rotated the 4 tires but not the spare, but the guy who bought it didn't seem to rotate them.

Rotate all 5 tires and I can see 100k out of those MT/r tires.... But we are also talking old style mt/r

All depends on how you drive it I suppose

I know no one will believe me but I have a set of Grabber AT2s on a Tacoma with 120k on them and they still got tread. 4 tire rotation too. Even the guy at Americas tire was shocked, I think I will need to replace them due to cracking before the tread wears out though.

I guess it depends on how and where you drive. I've never come close to that on any tire in 35 years of driving on or off road. It certainly will never happen in Az. , that's for sure.
I would love to see these tires ! Any pics ? And is by chance your City Carpeted ? Just Kidding.
