Stock Rubi BFGs are labeled 32", but mine measure at 31.5 on the spare and 31" on the ground. Brand new, stock Rubicon with no accessories.

Debating if 315 is worth the cost over 285s. Cause the GY 315s come out to 33.5 mounted.
Is that .5 worth the weight and money

I used to have 285/70-17R GY DuraTracs and mine measured 31.75 mounted. I now have 315/70-17R GY DuraTracs and they measure 33.75 mounted. So in my experience they run about 1.25" less than the expected 33" or 35".

x2 on the 285 measuring at 31.75. I haven't done the actual measurement, but the speedo was off until I programmed it down to 31.75 with the procal.

Ok... Thanks guys

Definitely not worth going from stock rubi tires to 285... Not for half inch at the most.

Looks like 315s will be the choice

And after a few miles they will be closer to 33 as mine are. Big mistake for me. Far too small.

Keep in mind my stock rubi tires only measured 30.75 when mounted. :)

With that said I went from stock rubi tires, to 285s, and then to 315s. If I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now I would just save myself the time and money and go straight to 315s from the start (especially if you believe you will ever consider going to 315s at a later date).

going from my stock 245 75 17s to the 285 70 17s made a HUGE difference in appearance gave gave a 1" lift to my jeep. Well worth the price imho, especially for those that don't want to lift.

I have 285/70R17 on mine and I think they look great. I get a lot of complements on the set up and I don't think I'd want anything any larger.

Just so you know, most tires measure less when on the vehicle.

My 315/75/16 Kelly Safari TSR's were 34.6 before mounting, they sit at 33.5 with 26 psi on the Jeep.

Gotcha

Been looking into 285/75s also

Unfortunately GY don't make that size
Honestly I would just jump to the 315's unless gears or something else is holding you back in a major way. You can do it with a 2"/1" leveling kit. Or you can do it stock with minor trimming if you don't wheel.

If you were close I would offer you mine for cheap. Time for 37's for me.

Bear in mind they were perfect with stock fenders and that leveling kit. But if you plan to keep going up, change flares, etc., then even the 315's are going to be silly small once you do that stuff.

Where ya located? ;)
I've got 285s and concur with the 31" and change measurement

My WF most popular lift will be here in couple weeks... The TF 2.5 coil one. So not making any final decision until it's installed. But 100% sure I'm going to use the Rubi HR wheels, 1.5" SpiderTrax spacers (already installed) and like to do BW flat fenders. That's my end goal.

The 285/75 are only .5 smaller then 315s .. And I would like to keep a narrower tire.. As close to fender lip as possible, so again 285/75.

But availability and looks is also playing a part.
And of course one that is a less drag on the power train. I have no plans to regear from the 3.73s.
