Are you going to be able to fixit?t.was it easy to break down?
I cleaned it up,put it back together temperarally and it work fine.I have to order new gaskets.

Here is the gear the either locks up or freespools,Im pointing to it with my screwdriver. Its connected to the freespool lever. And yes, very simple to dissassemble

All man thought he knew is now shattered.
But I thought Warns were God's gift to the jeeping world, right behind curry :hide:
He could have returned that winch to Warn. I respect him for digging in rather than shipping winches cross country. I'll venture to guess that if it was not a Warn, it probably would have been irreparable.

You've forgotten that warns are always there when you need them the most. ALWAYS.

Any other winch breaks and has great customer service and they are still a cheap chinese winch. Warn breaks and their customer service completely redeems them. I see a little bit of a double standard here. I believe warn makes a great product but can't stand anyone who whores around a product and worships it. My engo broke down after almost 2 years of hard use, they send me the part within the week and I had it fixed. Customer service identified my issue as an error during manufacturing that was recalled and diagnosed and shipped out the entire replacement assembly not just the bad part within 2 hours. But they are still a "crappy, import, budget winch". If they both break and the warn gets gummed up this bad without even going under water, then what's the difference? My engo was pretty darn clean inside.

My post was mostly made as a joke and in fun, but you obviously took it serious and then made some stupid comment about how any other winch wouldn't be irreparable. It was just freaking dirty and not sealed well...

I am not a warn whore but I did pay a lot for a winch that is considered the best. There's been a lot of "warn winches are touched by Midas" responses to threads lately. This is a thread about a guy who pulled his winch apart and fixed it. Cudos to the OP.

Thanks guys.I figured its nuts & bolts so why not give it a shot.Secondly I was a little annoyed I had to do any repairs to my Warn but it worked fine & just couldent freespool it.Its got to obviously be a flaw with the 2 gaskets that seal the gear assy.
Also, not to thrilled with Warns cust serv.Sent them a email yesterday, havent heard back.Ill give them another day.

Decided to call Warn.I was impressed someone answered immediately,no machine or menu to choose from.I explained to the guy what happened. He got my info & said he will mail out 2 new gaskets,no charge.Im not sure if I believe his explination but he said its prob from condensation & to operate the wince if Im not using it much to get rid of any moisture that might be in there.Overall I liked being able to talk to someone & right away.Seems ya dont get that much these days.
