I just got finished installing a 1 inch MML and 1 in. BL and try to back out of the garage and it won't go all the way into reverse!! I finally got it to stay in to back out and it will not go into second gear. I can tell that it is going to have to go back further than it will let go to get fully into gear but I don't know what to do to fix it!! I have to go to class then straight to work so I probably won't be able to respond but any responces will be greatly appreciated since I need to get back on the road ASAP!!! This is my daily driver and it's gonna be awful if it is out for long!! Thanks in advance!!

Probably will have to do a little trimming around the shift lever in your tub. May be a bit of a pain, but the console and shifter boot should cover any "custom bodywork" you have to do. It actually probably mentioned this in your lift kit. I know with my YJ transfer case drop it was mentioned.

I know what I did, I installed a MML and didn't remove my transfer case drop. I am sure when I remove that it should take care of all my problems!! Thanks. If anyone knows anything else that i need to check please let me know. Thanks

it is hitting the shift boot but it's way too firm of a stop to just be that. I pulled the crap out of it and it would just grin the gears. I couldn't get second at all and BARELY reverse. I drove it to work 1st 3rd and 5th only.

So did you remove the TCase drop and put the tranny and Tcase back at the stock height? Basically with your TCase drop and BL/MML you have given yourself probably a 2" BL which generally causes the shifter to hit the tub.

yep what they said :flipoff: :) remove the center console enough so you can see the metal underneath it and try to shift and see if it hits the metal ps: your rig does not need to be running.. if it does cut it good if not remove the boot around the shifter and see if it fixes it. If that doesnt work you can leave the center console loose and see if it goes in gear since i've seen people make other holes since the shifter hits the back of the shifter hole in the center console... you can install a leather boot like you see on the cars since that's way softer.

Another fix for that is installing a short shifter but i'm preatty sure your pockets are not that full now?!:)

btw 1st 3rd and 5th :) you are experimenting similar power loss as with bigger tires and stock gears (not that heavy though)

Not yet, as soon as I realized that I forgot the TC drop I was like well no kidding!!! That's probably why I had so much trouble with the MML to begin with. I am sure it would have been a lot easier to work with if I would have taken that out first to begin with. I think I am gonna run out and pull it out now and see what happens. thanks again everybody!! Oh and I think i helped the site out a little tonight. I think I have 3 guys at work tonight that are gonna go home and join because I was telling them how great of a site this was!!

did you uncrew the tranny skid nuts that hold the tranny to the skid? If not i'd say thats the main thing that gave you problems since not enough if any slack for the tranny to go forward and make up for the height and the tranny drop aided to that also because it just added to the angle.

BTW this site is only 2 years old now :) its still a little baby with big head lol

Success!!! Thanks everybody, removing the TC Drop made all the difference in the world!! Also can someone tell me exactly how to adjust the TC shifter linkages?? It wouldn't stay in 4 low very well and I retightened the shifter drop bracket and that made it great, but i was looking and just wondering. Thanks again!!

Oh and no I didn't loosen them. Yeah if i had to do it over again I think it would be a pretty simple project and I definitely would have some pointers to give someone if they decided to do a MML!!
