Best to not overdo it. 3.5" is a lot for the factory driveline.

Personally, I would go straight to Chrysler to see what they say. I have been told at the dealership that certain size lifts would void the warranty due to the "intent" of the lift.... off-roading in a more aggressive manner. Whatever. It's an off-road vehicle. Bottom line is that they would need to prove that the alterations caused the problem. Like I said, I would try to get info from the people who would ultimately make the decision should a situation arise.

Certain parts might not be covered under warranty, it depends on what the mod is and what part goes bad. They can't flat out deny warranty coverage on the entire vehicle. For example if you do a lift and the heater stops working, they still have to cover the heater repair. OTOH if you do a lift and install bigger wheels and tires and have a problem with ball joints you might have a hard way to go. As Gord P mentioned tell Chrysler what mods you'd like to do and how it will impact your warranty. Then make sure you get the name/names of the people you spoke with and the date. Something in writing is even better, good luck with that.

The short answer is your warranty is not voided. However, whatever components that are affected by non oem items such as the lift, Chrysler does not have to warrant those components. Each dealer is different how they handle a warranty claim for non oem items. The answer isn't simple. Your warranty can be affected somewhat but only if they can tie in those components to the lift and tires. You can check with the dealer. However, I would be surprised if they would put anything in writing regarding aftermarket parts. For example, even Mopar lifts installed by the dealer aren't covered by "Chrysler". Some dealers will extend coverage but they don't have to. There's no problem doing it. Just understand that certain affected components might not be covered.

I bought a 2013 JKU with the Mopar Maximum Care warranty that covers 5000 components. My thinking is I got the warranty to cover the engine and the transmission. The dealership has to prove it was the lift that caused it. A good install shouldn't cause any problems and most of those parts have pretty good warranties.

All that is true, but the other thing to think about is that the dealer will do what they want. They don't really have to prove anything until you challenge them (in court), which is not a cheap process.

It doesn't work quite that way. You'd have to prove the mod didn't cause the problem. If the dealer denies the repair blaming the mod your Jeep sits in the dealers lot and nothing gets done to it, or you take it home with nothing getting done to it. Either way you'd probably end up in court trying to prove the mod didn't cause the problem, at least that's how it worked when I was working in the car business.
