Hi guys, i sent my question to Mr. Jerry Bransford hoping he can help but if you all have any thoughts id appreciate it greatly!

I have a 97 2.5L TJ and im a highschool student so money is very tight. I have my post cat (2.5L only have one bank) o2 sensor sending a cel code and also my tps is sending a cel code. In the last couple of days my jeep has started smelling of awful gas fumes and ive found a decent size crack in my exhaust manifold. My question is would both of these cel codes be related? Im wondering if my manifold is relasing plenty of exhaust (i can hear the tick) before it makes it to the o2 sensor so the sensor is reading the exhaust as lean and telling it to run more rich causing the gas smell. Do you have any thoughts for me??

The first thing I would do is replace your manifold and then reset your codes. Then replace the O2 sensor(s) if needed.

So basically do the cat since it will need replaced no matter what, then do the o2 sensor, then if code is still popping do the cat converter. What would be the throttle position sensor error?

I didn't say anything about the cat....What I am saying is since you know your manifold is cracked, start there and get that issue resolved first.

If you do have to buy O2 sensors, get good ones....people have had issues with the O2 sensors from Autozone, etc.

You can usually find used exhaust manifolds on ebay, or they are less than $200 new.

Fix what you know is broken first and then go down the line as you may not need anything else. No point in buying a bunch of parts that you may or may not need.
